BISHOPS STORTFORD LEAGUE – 15th April 2018

CROSSKEYS 5 v CORKERS

Our second week in a row playing Corkers this morning saw us struggling to settle into the match in the first quarter. We lost a lot of loose balls and Corkers punished us with a score line of 7-3 at the end of the 1st.
Second quarter and we were determined to settle down and pull it back, unfortunately we had that ‘nightmare quarter’ and only scored 1 goal score was now 12-4 to Corkers.
However, undeterred we kept our heads up with some lovely defending and mid court play and some great goals, sharing the quarter with Corkers 9 goals each, taking the score to 21-13.
Last quarter and we had a lot of work to do. We started well with some fantastic play but Corkers started to pull away again and the final score was 28-16 to them.

Well done to my team for never giving up and fighting for every ball.
Lisa May GS/GA, Samantha Edwards (was Davey) GA/GS, Karen Lucas WA, Fred C, Me WD, Jasmine GD, Lisa Gingee Davey GK.

A later match for us this morning proved lucky as not only had the rain stopped but the sun had come out too. Still very windy but we started the game as we meant to go on and were 7-3 in front after the first quarter.
2nd quarter was mostly the same and ended 13-6 to us.
By half time the wind seemed determined to blow every ball off course but we held on to the lead going into the last quarter 17-11 up.
With our heads held high our opposition couldn’t get back any goals and the final score was 21-15 to us.

Great game played by my ladies this morning, well done  Lesley Galloway Weight GK, Lisa Gingee Davey GD (POM),  Alii Sadler WD, Michelle Lavender C, Laura Carlton WA, Sam Davey GA and Lisa May GS.

Crosskeys 6 Vs Mystix

A pleasant but breezy morning up at Birchwood school saw us going up against the team top of division 3. The first quarter was a game of 2 halves as we fell 6-1 behind within the first 5 minutes, however a few mistakes from Mystix shooters and we pulled it back in spectacular fashion ending the quarter 8-7 up.
The second quarter was goal for goal and ended with us still up at 17-15.
Mystix had a few change arounds but couldn’t get in front of us as the quarter was drawn ending 25-23.
With everything to play for it was a frantic last quarter. With Mystix just pulling ahead of us at the beginning my ladies fought so hard to get the lead back but unfortunately were just beaten by the clock.
Final score was 31-30 to Mystix. But what a fantastic game and a massive congratulations to the B2N ladies for holding the top team off right to the very end.
Team today was  Lesley Galloway Weight GK, Lisa Gingee Davey GD (POM), Nicola Clark WD, Michelle Lavender C, Laura Carlton WA, Sam Davey GA and Lisa May GS.
