East Region County Satellite Tournament – 7th May2016

Ellie Lewis, Kate Henshall and Nada Tadros flew the flag for Crosskeys at the East region county satellite tournament at UEA Norwich. Some absolutely amazing netball. Hertfordshire had 2 teams entered. Kate on Herts 1 and Nada and Ellie on Herts 2. Both teams played exceptional netball. There were 18 teams. Herts 1 did not lose a game. Their hardest game was the final against north bucks which they won by 2 goals in extra time. We think Herts 2 came 6th. Kate got Player of the tournament for Herts 1. Well done girls you did Crosskeys proud

Our 11th Junior Tournament: A message from the Chair

Sunday 24th April saw Crosskeys Netball Club host it’s 11th junior tournament. It really was the biggest and the best so far. Seventy four (74) teams took part travelling from as far away as Norfolk, Sussex and Durham.  Junior netball players who’s ages ranged from 10 -16 enjoyed a full day of netball. The standard of play was impressive in every age group from every team.

Our Crosskeys committee/non playing team worked tirelessly throughout the day starting at 7 a.m and finally leaving Mark Hall Centre at almost 7 p.m. Well done one and all on a truly fantastic effort. Although we all came home tired it really was well worthwhile and so many lovely compliments from people about how well run the Crosskeys tournament always is.
So much hard work goes into running a tournament of this size and it would not be possible without everyone “pulling” together. Crosskeys should be very proud of the accomplishments this weekend. Coaches, players, umpires, parents, friends and family all getting involved to run a successful day. Well done Crosskeys NC.

Under 16,s Nationals, 12th March 2016

Our first game was against local rivals ASCO and from the start our movement was very static and predictable, ASCO were on fire and we just couldn’t focus and lost the game 12-4. For our game against Chelmsford we had a slight team change and by half time we were up 6-2, however the second half we again started to get into bad habits with weak passes but thankfully we worked hard and won 9-7. The mighty Eastwood were our next opponents and we knew this was going to be a very tough game since this team was made up of 1st division ER players. From the start we came out strong and everything started to fall into place, moving the ball swiftly down the court using each channel and by half time we were up 7-2. Going back on court we were more confident than ever and again played outstandingly and won the game 12-7. Knowing we were good enough to beat an ER side we met Grangers in the next round. Now, I know we mustn’t criticize our hard working umpires but our one really was a prime candidate for an optician appointment. So, many infringements were missed from foot on the line to our C being pushed into the defensive circle, it was a depressing game to watch since the girls were playing so well. The stop start of the game really didn’t help us and time didn’t allow us to make up for lost time and the final score was 8-6 to Grangers.
Noticing some fatigue in the players we had another reshuffle and now the girls were starting to gel together. Our last two games against CoJags and Cockfields ended in a mighty win for us 12-2 and 15-6.

It was a long and hard day for this squad who were up against teams that play together week in week out. Our team were made up of four teams and therefore it took time for the girls to know each others movements. When we did get it right we were formidable. If we need to move on to the next round it is something we must seriously look at. Nevertheless, putting that to one side I can’t express how proud I am of all the girls, from those that played and those (this time) didn’t, you all played a very important role.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the girls and to everyone on the coaching team.

Congratulations to the U14 squad who were amazing.

Squad: Lily Fakile, Amber Moore, Becky Allen, Emma Wacey, Jordan Hinks, Emma Kennett, Emily Allen, Cam Brown
Kate Peacock and Hanae Sbai (capt)
