Training at Mark Hall?

Welcome to Junior Netball at Crosskeys in Harlow

We have seven groups in our Junior Harlow Netball Section ranging from U-8 to U-14, and numbers are increasing each term.

Our netball coaches are qualified and also attend Duty of Care and First Aid courses.

We operate within our Duty of Care Policy which ensures a safe and happy learning environment. We also have a nominated Child Protection Officer.

Club Presentation Evening
Friday 27th June 2008

This year’s Presentation Evening once again took place at The Link Social Club with a good attendance, especially from the Junior Section.

Bill Rammel, Member of Parliament for Harlow, presented the awards and trophies, starting with the Jack Petchey Awards and continuing with those from the Coaches and Players.

DVD’s were played on screen throughout the evening, showing the teams at various tournaments and one made by the year 9 players (The Crocodiles) to say “Goodbye” to the Juniors, and “Hello” to the newly formed Youth Section.

The disco was excellent with more than one dad showing that they could still keep up with their daughters, though whether they were as supple in the morning is doubtful.

Mel Boulton was nominated for the Jack Petchey Leader’s Award, which will now be put forward for ratification.

A really great evening, enjoyed by all.

Trip To Wembley for England v Malawi
Friday 18th April 2008
England

Quite an eventful journey, but we arrived safely and in plenty of time for the match. All the adults were issued with 'Walkie-Talkie' sets, just in case!!

44 children and 8 adults took their seats, armed with various noise making instruments. For many of the girls it was their first trip to Wembley Arena and they were all very excited.

They thoroughly enjoyed the game, all the more, as there was an ex-Crosskeys player on court,(Claire Elsley), and England finished with a great win, making them outright winners of the Three Test Matches.

Trip To Wembley for England v Malawi
Friday 18th April 2008
My First International, by Sopie Cannell (Yr 6)

On Friday 18th April 2008, Crosskeys netball club went to Wembley Arena, (from yr6 upwards), to watch the England netball team play Malawi. So before we got the coach we had to meet up at Mark Hall Sportscentre to get into our groups. So when the coach arrived at Mark Hall we all got onto the coach and were on our way to Wembley Arena.

So when we got to Wembley, it was very busy because there were a lot of other coaches and that means there will be a lot of people. So when we got off the coach we had to stay in our groups. I was in Pat’s Group. Then after that we walked up to the entrance that we had to go through. So once we got into Wembley Arena it was very crowded. One of our Coaches was sitting opposite us on the other side.

Once the game started, it was very loud. The match started at 7 o’clock and there was a break every 15 minutes. Someone who used to play for Crosskeys was playing for England and she was called Claire Elsley. They moved the ball from one end of the court to the other in three passes. Also they didn’t do a lot of footwork or obstruction.

So, once the game had finished the score was 61-36 to England. Luckily England won the game! So once we got outside of Wembley Arena it was very busy so we had to stay in groups until we got onto the coach. We finally got back to Mark Hall at 9:45pm.

Two Make It To The Talent Pathway

On Sunday 6th April 2008, Rebecca Hazell, Anna Wacey, Robyn Graham and Georgia Das from the Crosskeys U14 Squad trialled at the Talent Development Screening Programme at Stanborough.

Many girls from local teams competed for a place which would then put them forward to trial for The Regional Development Programme on the 6th July 2008. Succeeding that, they would then be picked for the County Academy.

Each girl was asked to play their three strongest positions and played a series of 10 minute matches. All the girls that represented Crosskeys played exceptional games and should be very proud of themselves.

Two of the girls Rebecca Hazell and Georgia Das passed the first screening and we look forward to seeing how they get on in July.

May I take this opportunity to say well done to all the girls at Crosskeys who took part and for those who didn’t quite make it through the first screening, to have another go next year. We at Crosskeys are very proud of you all.

May we also send our best wishes, (you don’t need luck) to Rebecca and Georgia for their next trials in July. Watch this space!
