Yr 6 – Turnford Junior Tournament: 19th May

By Pete | Published: May 28, 2012

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

A MASSIVE WELL DONE TO THE U11 SQUAD WHO ON SATURDAY 19TH MAY CAME HOME FROM THE TURNFORD TOURNAMENT WITH TROPHIES!!!

All the girls played their hearts out. There were 22 – U11 teams split into 2 sections of 11 teams. Crosskeys U11 played 10 matches and were runners up which got them to the semi final. In the semi-final we played Asco and in a nail biting match after drawing 7-7, we had to play an extra 2 minutes. In that 2 minutes we scored 2 goals which saw us through to the final.

We met Turnford A in the final who played a great game and were the eventual winners, however, we had a fantastic tournament and for the girls to come away with a trophy was the highlight of the day.

I would like to say “Thankyou” to all the parents for their support and especially to Gary for setting up the Gazebos for us early in the day and keeping stats for me.

CONGRATULATIONS. EVIE, MOLLY, CAM, DAISY, ELYSIA, EMMA, LAUREL, JORDAN, ALICE AND OLIVIA.

THE U11 TEAM HAD A GREAT 1ST TOURNAMENT OF THE SEASON.
(Crosskeys Junior Tournament, 22nd April)

WE PLAYED SEVEN MATCHES. WON 4, DREW 1 and LOST 2.

THE TWO WE LOST WERE ONLY BY ONE GOAL AND, UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE WE DREW OUR 1ST MATCH, WE DIDN’T QUALIFY FOR THE SEMI FINALS. HAD WE WON OUR 1ST MATCH THE GIRLS WOULD HAVE COME 2ND AND BEEN THROUGH TO THE SEMI’S.
THEY ALL PLAYED WELL, FIGHTING ALL THE WAY AND I’M SURE, IN TOURNAMENTS UPCOMING, THEY WILL SUCCEED AS WE HAVE SOME GREAT TALENT IN THIS AGE GROUP.

THANKS TO ALL THE PLAYERS FOR TRYING HARD AND HAPPILY SWAPPING IN AND OUT. ALSO MY THANKS TO ALL THE PARENTS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

U11 Crosskeys Match  V Turnford A  Saturday 25th Feb 2012

A Big Well done to my U11 (Yr 6) team on Saturday.

We turned up for our 11.40am match on a lovely Saturday morning for our 2nd game against Turnford A  this season.  After winning our first round match against them before Christmas we knew they would be eager to beat us second time around.  With great team spirit and an eagerness to win the girls focused  on keeping possession and playing their own game.  Olivia Kounnis played GS for us for the first half assisted by Emma Wacey as GA, and after the first quarter we were 6-2 up!  Evie Hopwood and Cam Brown played brilliantly in Defence and made numerous interceptions  and our centre court players  Jordan Hinks, Laurel Peck, Amy Stimpson and Molly Ballard kept the game flowing.  Turnford caught up in the second quarter with some good defence play but we managed to keep our lead.  Well done to Jordan and Molly who stepped in to play a quarter each as GS when I moved Emma out to Centre and Olivia to GA for the second half.  Thanks to all the parents for their much appreciated support.

We are still top of the league and hopefully with  the rest of the squad of girls that play in the team Saturdays  we can remain there.

From a very proud coach

Jo Wacey

East Grinstead Tournament: Sunday 1st July

U12’s – Coaches Julie Moore & Anita Griffiths

Oh YES ………. another fantastic day had by the U12’s
The team played the best Netball that they have and managed to pull off producing some fantastic results before losing to Essex Open B in their first Semi Final.
The most memorable game of the day was against Nolfolk United which we needed to win to put us into the Semi Finals as did they!!!!
The fight and passion that the 8 girl’s produced was incredible. They were losing 3-1 at half time however they managed to fight on and turn the result round to 4-3 scoring right on the whistle with the winning goal. Nolfolk United were devastated as this knocked them out of the tournament. The noise that came from our players and parent supporters indicated that they could not have been happier. Well Done Girls keep up with this determination we will make a FINAL.
The Team for the day consisted of
Becky Allen, Emily Allen, Madison Coare, Izzy Dorkin, Macy Jacob, Amber Moore, Kate Peacock and Hanae Sbai
We played 7 matches against: CDP Coral, Essex Open A, Mid Sussex Black, New Cambell, NRG, Norfolk United and CDP Diamonds.

The TEAM WON 6 and LOST 1 – putting us into our first Semi Finals against Essex Open B

The team fought hard however we lost 9-5 putting us out of the tournament leaving Essex Open A to play Essex Open B in the final We will be there next year!!!!!!
The coaches awarded for “Player of the Tournament” went to: Emily Allen
Emily has recently stepped up to play in the “A “squad and defiantly went out to show that she is a worthy contender to stay there. Well done to her.
As coaches we can only ask for the team to go out and try their best against all teams and believe us this is what the team did and more we could not have asked for anything better.
Lastly we would like to say a big thank you to all the support that the parents gave on the day it was an absolute brilliant atmosphere and I look forward to a repeat at the Turnford End of Season Rally.
Thanks
Julie & Anita
U12 Coaches.

Turnford Tournament: 19th May

The U12’s entered the annual Turnford Tournament on the 19th May. The weather held out for us however it was defiantly not up to the normal levels we have experienced for this tournament in May.
All players played really well throughout the day.

Team consisted of
Becky Allen, Madison Coare, Holly Davis, Izzy Dorkin, Fiona Fuller, Macy Jacob, Amber Moore & Kate Peacock
We had 8 matches scheduled however on arriving we got advised that one team had pulled out so we only got to play 7 matches against: ASCO, Brentwood, Dacorum, Hertford Hornets B, Oaksway A, Stevenage Storm & Trinity.
It was good to come against some different teams that we have not played before and it was strange to play against Sue Peters Team “Brentwood”.

The coaches awarded for “Player of the Tournament” went to:
Madison Coare who managed to play consistently well in all matches, so well done to her for some excellent play throughout the day.
As coaches we can only ask for the team to go out and try their best against all teams. This is what the team delivered however the results did not necessarily reflect the effort that was put in.
Thanks to all that attended.
Julie

Essex Open Junior Tournament; 12th May

The U12’s entered a team into Essex Open Annual Tournament over in Ilford, this was a first for us as a team and we ventured there not really knowing what to expect. The Venue was very good and the tournament was well organized. We will most definitely go again. All players played really well throughout the day all be it we did come up against some good teams.
Team consisted of
Becky Allen, Emily Allen, Madison Coare, Izzy Dorkin, Fiona Fuller, Amber Moore, Kate Peacock & Natasha Robinson

We played 5 matches against: New Campbell, Hornets, Essex Open A, Star and Woodley
We Won 1 Drew 1 and Lost 3 on paper it may not look like a massive achievement however we will say that the team held their own against teams like Essex Open A and Woodley who lost in the finals to Turnford.

The coaches awarded for “Player of the Tournament” went to:
Fiona Fuller who managed to play well in 3 different positions so well done to her for some excellent play throughout the day.
As coaches we can only ask for the team to go out and try their best against all teams. This is what the team delivered however the results did not necessarily reflect the effort that was put in.
Lastly we would like to say a big thank you to all the support that the parents gave on the day.
Thanks
Julie & Anita

U Ice Skating Experience- December 2011

On the 21st Dec the U12′s team and Coaches went to Van Hage’s for an ice skating experience.
We all met up and the kids went on the ice whilst the Mum’s and Coaches chatted over cups of tea.
The players had 45 minutes of fun and wetness on the ice and, as the session went along, daylight drifted away and a festive evening with Christmas lights evolved all around.
A good time was had by all and we all left rosy cheeked and smiling.

Jack Petchey Award Winner: October 2011

Amber has been a member of Crosskeys for 5 years. She is fully committed to training & also to playing in League matches & Tournaments. She has a lovely manner & always looks smart& tidy when on court. She welcomes new members & helps them to settle in. She also wants to learn how to umpire & will take the whistle at training sessions.

Mavericks Netball Camp – October 2011

On the 24th to the 26th October 2011 four girls from the U-12’s
squad attended the Mavericks netball camp, held in Braintree.
The girls were Macey Jacob, Madison Coare, Fiona Fuller
and Kate Peacock. We went with the aim of playing three days
of netball, to improve on our netball skills and gain some advice
from expert players. It also provided us with an insight into what
it would be like to be a real Maverick’s player. Our two coaches
were Georgia and Sarah who both play for Mavericks. They were
really friendly and encouraging throughout the three days.

Every day at the end of the session, which was from 10-3pm,
two players, one from each coach, were nominated
‘Player of the Day’. Kate won the award on the Monday.
We were also given Mavericks T-shirts which we wore on the
last day, where we played a tournament. We were all split up
and made to play in teams which were all after different countries.
This was a fantastic experience and we all can’t wait until the
next holiday course!!

Nottingham Tournament 2011

OH what a start to the season – The U12’s ventured to Nottingham for a two day tournament
The Squad:-
Madison Coare, Natasha Cottham-Cartledge, Holly Davies, Ellie Hitch, Macy Jacob,
Amber Moore, Kate Peacock, Laura Tinney and Elizabeth Ward-Booth
Saturday –Well this brought much anguish to players as the team played 5 games in their age group and only managed to win one match. Both Coaches agreed that, although players had played well, some times things just didn’t happen. However the whole experience of playing new teams at a new venue was a learning curve and we could all return home with new experiences learnt.
This was not the end of the tournament for the team. Although we would not playing for the main trophy we would now be playing in “The Plate” competition the next dayWe all returned to the hotel to relax, swim, and forget about the matches of that day. The focus now needed to be on Sunday’s play. Good Nights Sleep had by all – and another early start.
Sunday – We wake to bad weather, what else can be thrown at us. With high spirits the team travels to the sports venue and away we go again….
5 Matches to play competing against: Notts City, Cliftonet, Blackpool, Parkside and Ribble.
First game we win 2-0 against Notts City on their home ground
Second game we win 4-1 against Cliftonet. Third game we win 5-1 against Blackpool
Fourth game we draw against Parkside 2-2
So that is 3 wins and 1 draw. We have worked it out that we need to win our last game against Ribble to win “The Plate”.
Now, we had played Ribble the day before and lost 7-0. The players are on a high but realize that this could be the most important game they have played. It is a good game with Crosskeys girls fighting to the end however we lose 2-7. This means we don’t know where we have come in the Tournament.
Our score had improved from the day before meaning all that had been learnt and observed had paid off. No Coach can ask for more.
We enter as a team into the presentation hall and sit to watch trophies being given out. “And the runners up of the U12’s” Plate” competition is ……CROSSKEYS” How fantastic we have come all this way and we are taking home trophies what an achievement and a start to the season.
Well done to all players and a BIG THANK YOU to the Parents who supported the trip and to Gregory and Emma who came and gave moral support.
Anita & Julie

Year 9 2011-12

CONGRATULATIONS – Lucie Sudworth

Lucy is currently in Year 9 and has just completed
her second year at the Herts Satellite Academy. At the end of this season she was chosen, by the Academy, out of 20 girls, as outstanding. She has been put forward for County/Regional screening. She also attended a Satellite Academy Tournament where she was spotted by a Regional Coach and invited to attend Two Regional/Maverick training sessions in Bedford, where she performed very well.

Saturday Turnford League

10 Sept Crosskeys 31 – Cheshunt 8

22 Oct Crosskeys 28 – Asco B 12

Thurrock Tournament – October 2011

Chelmsford lost 3 – 4
Essex Open won 4 – 3
Civil Service won 8 – 3
Bears won 7 – 1
Kiddiwinks won 15 – 0

These results put us first place in our Group.

We won the semi-final against Brentwood, 6 – 5 and lost 5 – 7 to Poole in the final.

The Tournament started off not so good, but the girls got focused, fought to the end and worked hard as a team.
Well done to all, including Parents and Helpers.

Pauline

Nottingham Tournament – September 2011

The girls were placed in a particularly difficult group, winning only two games from six
on Saturday; however with one exception the games were very close.

These results meant we were to play in the Plate Competition on Sunday. This time,
we won two games, drew one and lost three.

There were a few ‘ups and downs’ during the weekend, but the girls came away with
many positive thoughts on how to improve their game and fitness.

Pauline
