Tegate Tournament Runners-Up

A great start to the tournament, on a miserable June day, was winning against Essex B 11 – 3. The girls played exceptionally well and this showed in all their matches.

Our next game was against Conquerors who had beaten us two weeks previously at the Nationals, but this time we took no prisoners and won convincingly 15 – 7. Nottingham Swifts, who reached their regional nationals last week, were our next opponents but today wasn’t their day and we won 13-1.

The mighty Turnford were next, whom we hadn’t played in a tournament situation for quite a while, and our girls didn’t put a foot wrong. We beat them 9 – 8. Our next game dipped a little and we drew against Brookside (formally Robins) 7 -7. The results meant we were top of our table and took us to the semi finals against Turnford B, we won 16 – 3.

Essex Open A, beating Turnford in the semis, meant we were to meet them in the final. It was a very tight game, sadly we lost 9 -10. Well done to each and ever one of you, you were all outstanding. Bring on the next game!

Squad: Emma A, Rebecca, Bianca(capt) Emma B, Alice, Hannah, Anna, Georgia, Lizzie and Caitlin.

This Season

Poole Tournament
3rd / 4th May 2008

At last the sun was shinning for our first weekend away tournament this year. Our first game was against Trinity and we had an outstanding win 15-2 , we then played Poole winning 8-3 and then, sadly, we lost our next match against Bournemouth 5-6.

We perked up and won our next game against Peeks 15-1. Then winning our next games Woking 12 -3, Bournemouth U13 12 -2 and Bournemouth B 26 – 0. We finished the day winning our next three games, Alpha NC 16 -6, Poole Gems 8 – 5 and Crosskeys U13 18 - 5. After an exhausting day, where each game was one off and one on, we retired back to the hotel.

The second day, although very tired, the girls worked hard, but sadly lost against Bournemouth 7 – 9. Hannah Hogan was unfortunately injured by a fierce contact by Bournemouth player and sustained a badly sprained ankle. (Many thanks to Bournemouth’s A&E dept for giving such good service). Although Hannah’s injury unsettled the girls they settled down and our next game was a triumph, beating Poole 8 – 6. We then beat Alpha 15 – 4, and our final game was against Poole, which unfortunately we lost 8 -9.

The results meant that we were runners up, and on both days we were the highest scoring team. I would like to thank all the girls who took part and a big, huge, massive thanks to mums and dads, without whom, we would not be able to participate in such a tournament.

Squad: Rebecca (Capt.) Emma A, Bianca, Olivia, Anna, Hannah, Alice, Frankie and Georgia.

WELL DONE GIRLS, I AM PROUD OF YOU ALL

Hertford Hornets Tournament
20th April 2008

Weather – bleak, miserable, wet and windy, ah yes it must be another netball tournament. After sinking our chairs into the mud and erecting our gazebo we, the U14 squad, were set for the day.

Our first game was against ASCO, and although we started off very slowly we managed to pip them at the post with a 5–4 win. Hatfield B showed no problem with an 11–2 win and that followed by another win against Cheshunt 9–0, with outstanding shooting from, Hannah, Francesca and Georgia. However, things took a turn for the worse and sadly we lost against Essex Open 7–8. Heads back up we played Stevenage next and our fantastic centre court action came from Bianca, Alice, Emma and Anna winning 10-2.

This meant we would now meet Turnford in the Semi’s. Our defence lead by Rebecca, Emma A and Alena fought to the bitter end and never gave up, sadly we lost 13–2. Overall we came 3rd with 21 points out of 12 clubs in our age group.

Thanks for the support from my wonderful mums and dads. Oh yeah…we did come first in something today. Georgia was the first girl to visit St John’s ambulance service.lol. Hope the leg gets better soon Georgia.

Schools' Regional Nationals

Feb 2nd 2008

Herts & Essex School won the U14’s section beating Goffs in the Final in extra time 12 goals to 11. 7 of the players in the Herts & Essex Team were from Crosskeys Netball Club.

They now go on to play in the National Schools Finals to be held on Saturday 15th March in Bournemouth.

They were accompanied on the day by mums Anne Cook (Scorer) and Jo Wacey (Coach). I was umpiring on the day and had the pleasure of watching the girls play – they were awesome!
